Upcoming Oxford, Plymouth, and Reading Gigs

Oxford, nicknamed 'The City of Dreaming Spires', is a city, and the county town of Oxfordshire, in South East England. The city, made prominent by its medieval university, has a population of just under 165,000, with 153,900 living within the district boundary. The rivers Cherwell and Thames run through Oxford and meet south of the city centre. For a distance of some 6 kilometres along the river, in the vicinity of Oxford, the Thames is known as the Isis. If you would like to have some fun in the city, there are several Oxford gigs that will be on in the next few days and weeks. Still going strong after 17 years, Dreadzone have built a reputation amongst dance music fans with their dubbed-out live shows and they will be performing at O2 Academy Oxford on Friday the 23rd of September. Duotone will be performing at The North Wall Arts Centre on Saturday the 15th of October. The Falling Leaves, The Gangbusters and Steamroller, 3 original Oxfordshire 60s bands, reunited live on stage on Saturday the 29th of October at Rover Social Club. Hannah James and Sam Sweeney will be performing at Unicorn Theatre on Friday the 4th of November. Ice Music perform at The North Wall Arts Centre on Saturday the 5th of November. The Ralph McTell tour around the UK will be in Oxford at The North Wall Arts Centre on Sunday the 6th of November. RnB Urban Soul: Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will be performing at New Theatre on Thursday the 10th of November.

Plymouth, nicknamed 'Spirit of Discovery', is a city and unitary authority area on the coast of Devon, England, about 310 kilometres south-west of London. The city is built between the mouths of the rivers Plym to the east and Tamar to the west, where they join Plymouth Sound. Since 1967 the City of Plymouth has included the suburbs of Plympton and Plymstock, which are on the east side of the River Plym. The city is home to around 250,000 people today, making it the 16th most populous city in England. If you are in the city and you would like to have some fun over the next few weeks, you are in luck since there are several Plymouth gigsfrom which you could choose from. The rock pop group, The Specials, will be performing at Plymouth Pavilions on Sunday the 23rd of October. Jessie J, another pop rock act, will be on at Plymouth Pavilions on Thursday the 27th of October. John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers perform at Plymouth Pavilions on Monday the 31st of October. Glen Campbell, a country folk act, performs at Plymouth Pavilions on Tuesday the 1st of November. Katy B performs at Plymouth Pavilions on Wednesday the 2nd of November. Ed Byrne will perform at Plymouth Pavilions on Wednesday the 9th of November. The alternative indie rock groups Motorhead, Anti Nowhere League, and UK Subs will perform at Plymouth Pavilions on Monday the 14th of November. Defenders of the Faith III, a hard rock metal group, will perform at Plymouth Pavilions on Thursday the 8th of December.

Reading  is a large town and unitary authority area in England. It is located in the Thames Valley at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, and on both the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, some 64 kilometre west of London. A presentation of Mid Wales Opera, Puccinis Madam Butterfly will take place at South Hill Park Arts Centre on Sunday the 18th of September. Dancing Stick Productions (DSP) will be showcasing home-grown talent and Le Reparateur & Goat Cheese will be on at The Earley Retreat on Monday the 19th of September. On Tuesday the 20th of September, Forces Sweethearts will be performing famous sing-along songs at South Hill Park Arts Centre. Big Sound Little Ground, another DSP presentation, will take place at Island Bar And Restaurant on Wednesday the 21st of September. Trio Hadouk, a presentation of jazz in the park, will take place at South Hill Park Arts Centre on Saturday the 24th of September. There will be Hangover Sunday 4 at Purple Turtle on Sunday the 25th of September. If you want a potent blend of English folk, new music, and a lively show exploring the English forgotten traditional calendar and annual festivals, you are in luck because John Dipper & Luke Daniels will be performing at South Hill Park Arts Centre on Sunday the 25th of September. Queen Kwong, Bad Wolf, Sons Of Moshka will be at Purple Turtle on Tuesday the 27th of September.
